FOR GOVERNOR 2026
Pillar 2
Incarceration & Re-entry
The Problem → My Policy Plan → Outcomes
THE PROBLEM
WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST
California has some of the highest incarceration rates in the nation, especially for non violent offenses. People come home to closed doors , no housing, no jobs, no support , and the cycle repeats. Mass incarceration drains communities and budgets while failing to deliver real safety.
MY POLICY PLAN
WHAT WE'LL DO ON DAY ONE, AND BEYOND
Reduce incarceration for non-violent crimes through diversion, treatment, and restorative justice
Expand re-entry programs with case management from day one.
Fund job training, apprenticeships, and fair-chance hiring partnerships
Provide housing support and rental assistance for the formerly incarcerated.
Invest in mental health and addiction treatment as alternatives to prison.
Reduce healthcare costs through prevention-focused healthcare reform

OUTCOMES
What success looks like
Lower recidivism
Stronger families and communities
