FOR GOVERNOR 2026
Pillar 2
Disability Rights & Accessibility
The Problem → My Policy Plan → Outcomes
THE PROBLEM
WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST
Californians with disabilities face barriers in nearly every part of daily life, inaccessible housing, gaps in healthcare and assistive technology, hiring discrimination, unreliable paratransit, schools that aren't truly inclusive, polling places that exclude voters, and new technologies built without accessibility in mind. One in four Californians lives with a disability, and too many are still locked out of the opportunity our state promises.
MY POLICY PLAN
WHAT WE'LL DO ON DAY ONE, AND BEYOND
Mandate universal design in all new and renovated affordable housing.
Expand Medi-Cal to fully cover assistive technology, home modifications, and mental health services.
Require living-wage jobs with reasonable accommodations and paid caregiver leave.
Invest in fully accessible public transit and paratransit with no waitlists.
Make all public schools and universities truly inclusive with Universal Design for Learning.

“Access isn't a favor it's a right. When we design California for everyone, everyone rises. No one gets left behind on my watch.”
