Environmental Justice

Environmental issues increasingly intersect with questions of equity and public health. Communities across the world are experiencing the effects of pollution, energy transitions, and rapid technological growth.

Environmental justice focuses on ensuring that no community bears an unfair share of environmental harm. Air pollution, industrial waste, and unsafe water sources often impact vulnerable populations more severely. At the same time, the global shift toward renewable energy and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence presents both opportunities and challenges.

Get to know Sophie...

Sophie Sam is a Nigerian-American designer, community advocate, and believer in thoughtful leadership. Throughout her career, she has focused on how environments shape the way people live, connect, and grow.

As a landscape designer, Sophie understands that strong communities don’t happen by accident—they are intentionally built through collaboration, planning, and care. Her work has always centered on creating spaces that reflect culture, support connection, and strengthen the communities they serve.

Today, she’s bringing that same vision to public service.
